Ballina Shire Council is encouraging our community to get active at the upcoming Get Active Expo

Are you looking for a new way to keep fit, meet friends, be more active, or get your fitness back on track after the festive season?

The Get Active Expo and Activity Sign On is a new initiative from Council to help connect adults and children to sport and activity providers in a fun and interactive environment.

The expo will be held at the Alstonville Leisure and Entertainment Centre from 10.30am on Saturday 2 February 2019 – and the best news is, it’s free!

The theme for the inaugural event is Anyone Can Play and will welcome event ambassador, Benny Roche, the Australian Pararoos Vice Captain. Ben’s passion is, “to ensure everyone gets a fair go” and he works tirelessly with organisations throughout Australia to make this happen.

“The expo will feature over 30 exhibitors representing a diverse range of activities, from cheerleading, dance and scouting to various football codes, basketball and netball, which means attendees will have plenty to choose from,” said Council’s Coordinator Community Facilities, Alicia Wallace.

Other highlights will include information about the Ballina Indoor Sports Centre (BISC), which is under construction, and an update on future plans for the Alstonville Leisure and Entertainment Centre. We will also have information concerning the NSW Government’s ‘Active Kids Vouchers’ that provide families $100 to use for sports registration fees.
