Austin Curtin officially launched his election campaign last night, 18 months since the Tregeagle macadamia farmer was preselected as the NSW Nationals Candidate for Lismore for the 2019 state election.

Mr Curtin was joined by over 200 supporters at Lismore City Hall last night, and said the campaign experience so far has only strengthened his love for Lismore and his drive to continue to fight for the community.

“I started this journey with the community over 18 months ago,” Mr Curtin said.

“I have listened to their priorities and they have formed the basis of this campaign.”

“I am passionate to address the issues that affect our region; lack of business confidence, more frontline health workers and the need for safer roads and bridges.”

Mr Curtin reiterated his top priorities should he be elected as the local member, including:

Working collaboratively with local council’s to fix our roads and timber bridges;
Getting diggers in the ground to start flood-proofing Lismore;
Delivering top-quality schools, hospitals, sporting fields and job-creating infrastructure;
Keeping his ear to the ground and working with constituents to grow jobs, educate future generations, and secure a stable and prosperous future for the region; and,
Striking the right balance between environment and industry, ensuring the raw and natural beauty of the Northern Rivers is preserved.

Mr Curtin also took the opportunity to slam his election opponents, saying they are, “all talk”.

“The difference between my opponents and I is that I’m not a career politician,” he said.

“Parliament doesn’t need politicians who know how to create more laws, they need strong advocates for their community and someone who is in the trenches, standing side-by-side with residents and businesses.”

“I’m a family man and a farmer, with a positive vision for our community. I know how important it is to put our region first and fight hard, and I need your support for this to happen.”
