Ballina Shire Council December Exhibitions Launch Event on Thursday 29 November 2018

Ballina Shire Council, Ballina News and Events Heartland MagazineNorthern Rivers Community Gallery (NRCG) Ballina launches four exciting new exhibitions this month and welcomes community and visitors to join us in the Gallery.

The Mirror Cracked Open the Bejewelled Garbage of a Ragged Rhizome | Samantha Karina Taylor
Samantha is drawn to common materials and objects—discarded, preloved or purchased inexpensively. This allows her to construct sculptures where materials restrictions guide the process.

Uncontained Vessels | Melinda Blair Paterson
Using the shape of a vessel as a metaphor, Uncontained Vessels explores the artist’s experience of form (body, thoughts and emotions) and formlessness (silence, stillness, spaciousness) during personal meditations.

From the Shadows | Linda Angledal
A collection of new works by Gold Coast based conceptual photographer Linda Angledal, From the Shadows utilizes composite photography to create surreal portraits that explore triumph over adversity.

Ambiguous light. Ambiguous sky. | Lynne Wallis
This exhibition explores the ambiguity of time and place when shifting light or atmospheric conditions render familiar landscapes less familiar, reminding us of the transience of every moment.

All exhibitions open Wednesday 28 November 2018 and continue until Sunday 23 December 2018. The official launch event is Thursday 29 November from 5.30pm to 7.30pm and all are welcome to attend.

The Northern Rivers Community Gallery is located at 44 Cherry Street Ballina and is open Wednesday to Friday from 10am until 4pm and weekends from 9.30am until 2.30pm.
