CLAIMS BY LABOR CANDIDATE ABOUT MACLEAN HOSPITAL UTTER GARBAGE – GULAPTIS
There is no secret plan to cut services at Maclean Hospital just Sydney Labor election eve dirty politics, Clarence Nationals MP Chris Gulaptis has declared.
“Of course I’m not ‘overseeing a secret plan to close the operating theatre’. The claim is utter garbage and this has been confirmed by the Northern NSW Local Health District,” Mr Gulaptis said.
“This is typical Labor. Say and do whatever it takes in a desperate bid to grab a few votes.
“In contrast, The Nationals in Government are investing heavily in health services across the entire Clarence Valley. We are co-funding a new helipad at Maclean Hospital, we opened a new health centre at Yamba, we are committed to building Iluka’s first ever ambulance Station and are investing hundreds of millions of dollars in a massive upgrade of Grafton Base Hospital.
“This is in addition to the Nationals’ commitment to undertake the largest ever health and allied health workforce boost, recruiting 8300 additional workers over four years.
“Labor has a proven track record at misleading the community and cannot be trusted.
“Labor candidate Trent Gilbert was recently called into question by respected Grafton-based LHD Board member and local Anaesthetist Dr Alan Tyson about assertions in his election video that Labor would fund the refurbishment of Grafton Base Hospital when they have absolutely no plan to do so.
“People deserve honest representation. If the Labor candidate was serious about representing and putting the good people of the Clarence first he would check his facts before embarking on sewer tactics in a desperate attempt to secure votes,” Mr Gulaptis said.
