Summer School Holiday Guide

Throughout the months of December and January, the Richmond Valley will come alive with a jam-packed schedule of events, activities, and Christmas-New Year celebrations.

From free kids discos and family trivia nights, to Beechies at the Bowlo and twilight mini rail rides, there will be something to keep the kiddos entertained this school holiday season. Check out a list of highlights below!

December Highlights

14 December | Rappville

Rappville Community Christmas

Bring your chairs and a picnic rug for a heart-warming celebration of Christmas cheer with festive music and entertainment, a free barbeque and drinks, jumping castle and face painting, Fitness Kidz activities and a visit from Santa.

14 December | Woodburn

Woodburn Carols by Candlelight 

The Woodburn Carols by Candlelight will be held in the Riverside Park overlooking the mighty Richmond River. Watch performances by the local schools and live music from Diamond Duo as the sun sets in the distance. Bring a rug or a chair and enjoy a pleasant evening celebrating this special time of year.

15 December | Casino

Casino Miniature Railway Twilight Run

The Casino Miniature Railway and Museum will be hosting a special twilight run on Sunday, 15 December to celebrate the festive season. Santa will be present from 10am – 11am, 2.30pm – 3.30pm, and 6pm – 8pm. Please note enclosed footwear is required.

Nerf Wars at the Sports Stadium

Nerf Wars are returning to the Casino Indoor Sports Stadium over the summer holidays! Enjoy a thrilling afternoon of fun and get the heart rate pumping. Guns and ammo are supplied. Children under 13 years must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

21 December – 31 January | Evans Head

Beechies at the Bowlo

The ever-popular Beechies at the Bowlo is back this year and is predicted to be bigger and better than ever! Inflatable water slides will be set up on the bowling green with options suitable for all ages. Shaded tables and chairs are supplied. Sit on the green, watch the children play, enjoy a cold beverage and soak up the summer fun.

27 December – 7 January | Evans Head

SUFM Evans Head

SUFM is returning to Evans Head this year and is set to be a fun-filled 10 days. Morning, afternoon and evening activities for all ages (including the adults!) will run daily from 27 December – 7 January 2020. The SUFM tents will be located at Stan Payne Oval and programs will be available in and around Evans Head from late December onward.

New Year’s Eve on the Green

Spend New Year’s Eve at the Casino Golf Club for the second annual NYE on the Green event! With rides, inflatables, courtesy bus and a live DJ to take you into the night, there’s no better way to ring in the new year.

New Year’s Eve Family Fun by the River

Celebrate the new year on the lawn beside the beautiful Evans River with FREE live entertainment, jumping castles, face painting and glow sticks! There will be food trucks and a licensed bar for the adults. Bring your blanket or some chairs and enjoy a balmy summer night under the stars.

Kids Multi-Sports Clinic

The Casino Town Tennis Club is hosting a kids multi-sports clinic from Monday 6 January – Thursday 9 January. Outdoor sports, water slip n’ slide, slime making, arts and crafts, music, and water fights are just some of the activities that’ll be on offer. Bookings are essential. Great Eastern Fly In

Welcome to the 2020 Great Eastern Fly In, celebrating the 80th anniversary of the WWII RAAF Station Evans Head with flying fun for everyone and so much more!
All types of planes – war birds, vintage, gyros, helicopter gliders, GA, planes small and large. Joy flights available over the weekend giving you the opportunity to see the beautiful NSW north coast from a birds eye view.
