CLARENCE & RICHMOND VALLEY TRADIES BENEFITTING FROM FEE-FREE APPRENTICESHIPS

Zac McKenzie of Grafton is one of 22 apprentices across the Clarence and Richmond Valleys who is already benefitting from the NSW Government’s fee-free apprenticeship package, Clarence Nationals MP Chris Gulaptis has announced.

Mr Gulaptis said Zac has seized the opportunity and is undertaking an electrical trade apprenticeship with the Solar Shop in South Grafton.

“I caught up with Zac yesterday at Grafton TAFE Campus where he was undertaking his studies to congratulate him. He is an enthusiastic young man who at 23 has a terrific head on his shoulders.

“He told me he did really well in his first exam and he should be extremely proud of himself.

“Taking up a trade should not be underestimated. NSW Nationals Leader and Deputy Premier John Barilaro’s previous life was as a ‘chippie’ and he knows all too well how rewarding taking up a trade can be and what it can lead to.”

Mr Gulaptis said fee-free apprenticeships will give a generation of tradies a head start in their careers allowing them to study and train for a fulfilling career while also addressing the State’s skills shortages.

“The NSW economy is humming and we want to make sure we are equipping a workforce with the skills industry will need to build the infrastructure of tomorrow.

“Fee-free apprenticeships benefit both students and employers and I encourage anyone thinking about upskilling or starting a new career to consider their options under the program and with TAFE NSW,” Mr Gulaptis said.
