GULAPTIS WELCOMES 1500 NEW COPS ACROSS THE STATE
Clarence Nationals MP Chris Gulaptis has welcomed today’s announcement by the NSW Liberals and Nationals Government of the allocation of 1500 new police officers across the state.
Mr Gulaptis used a speech in Parliament on 26 September pledging his support for more police and is thrilled his Government is delivering.
“Our Police have a tough job protecting our communities and this boost – the biggest increase in 30 years – is a win for our local police and the community.
“The 1,500 extra police will benefit every single community across NSW, including the North Coast, thanks to a record investment of $583 million by the Liberals & Nationals Government.
“While the allocation for the North Coast is an operational matter and yet to be determined, I am confident we will get our fair share.
“With former local Police Detective, Tony King now at the helm of the Police Association NSW, we are certain to have a voice at the table when he consults with the NSW Police Commissioner in determining allocations across the state.
“Tony knows firsthand the problems facing North Coast communities and I have every confidence he will ensure we receive the numbers needed to help ease the burden and strain on current officers,” Mr Gulaptis said.
Police Association NSW President Tony King said he is pleased the Government has listened and worked with them to deliver the biggest increase in Police officer numbers in three decades.
“I have been working with and consulting with Chris Gulaptis who has been instrumental in helping us achieve this result. He has been a conduit for me to the Government.
“As I see it, the bonus with this announcement is the Police Association has a commitment from the Government and the Police Commissioner that we will be consulted on the additional numbers,” he said.
