Second hay run heads to Collarenebri
ONE hundred and twenty bales of hay will be heading west tomorrow, making their way to drought-stricken farmers in and around Collarenebri.
This is the second drought convoy undertaken by Richmond Valley Council in partnership with local businesses. In August Richmond Valley, Kyogle and Lismore councils transported hay and made water deliveries to Narrabri farmers with the support of local beef producer John Fitzhenry and Narrabri Shire Council.
Tomorrow’s haulage was sponsored by Heath Conlan, 28 bales, Shayne Baker Earthmoving, 38 bales, and Richmond Valley Council, 54 bales. Council employee Noel Clark will be behind the wheel of Council’s truck for the 1136km return journey.
The three trucks will leave Casino around 5am, with the hay run being coordinated by Lions Need for Feed. The convoy should reach its destination around mid-afternoon.
