Tenterfield Shire – NOMINATE FOR AUSTRALIA DAY NOW!

NOMINATE FOR AUSTRALIA DAY NOW!

Council has recently developed 2 new initiatives to encourage more nominations for our Australia Day Awards.

Firstly, there is now a dedicated page on the Council website where you can complete a form online!

Throughout the year, events and situations happen when you think, “that person deserves to be nominated for Australia Day”. However by the time nominations are called, the event has dimmed and deserving people are forgotten.

Now you can hop online and complete that nomination!
Secondly, Council has changed the criteria for nomination to allow someone who lives outside the Tenterfield Shire but has done wonderful things within the Shire, to be eligible for nomination.
“We know that along our borders there are many people who live outside the Shire but work and have undertakings in our Shire”, Mayor Peter Petty said. “Council has recognized this and has expanded the criteria to allow them to be nominated.”

The following Awards are now open for nomination:

Citizen of the Year

Aims to recognise outstanding achievement during the past year and/or contribution to the local community over a number of years. To be eligible, the person must be 26 years or older on 26 January 2019.

Young Citizen Award
